All participants registered in the RUN get a medal and a shirt. All participants registered in the WALK get a shirt. Registered DOGS get a special dog charm!
Chip timing is provided by Mountain Junkies, LLC for the 5K RUN. Participants in the TIMED RUN will get an official time if they wear their bib (number) properly. Please wear your bib on the outermost layer of clothing, on the FRONT of your body. Participants in the WALK do not get a bib, and therefore will not have an official time.
The Start line is at the intersection of Williamson and Franklin Rd in Downtown Roanoke. The finish is about a block and a half away on Jefferson Street in front of the Main Library.

Race Morning Packet Pickup will be available at the Elmwood Park Stage from 6:30-8:30am.
Virtual Run/Walk pickup is only available at the Rescue Mission of Roanoke

Yes! There are plenty of porta-potties near the start at Williamson and Bullitt. There are also four on course at the water station.
No, sorry. We do not have a gear check.
Dogs are allowed in the 5K WALK only. To register your four-legged friend, select "Dog on Leash" during the registration process. The fee for dogs is $5 per pooch. Your dog will get a special Drumstick Dash charm for moving their feet!
Yes! There will be one water station about halfway through the race as you pass by the bus station.
We strongly encourage you to unplug and enjoy the festive atmosphere of the Dash without the distractions of your personal listening devivce. You'll pass by bands on the route, and you'll be surrounded by thousands of other people ready to have a conversation, so take advantage of it!
That's ok! We have a Virtual Race option for anyone who won't be in Roanoke on Thanksgiving. Just register for the Virtual Run or Walk, pick up your race shirt during regular packet pickup hours, and walk or run on Thanksgiving morning wherever you are! If you want to time yourself, you can upload your time to the virtual run results page (instructions will be emailed to you). This way even if you're out of town, you can still Move Your Feet So Others Can Eat!
