You'll help our team get everything set up in the morning, like unlocking porta-jons, affixing signage, and setting up fencing and scrim. Then, at 8:00 you're off the clock so you can stretch your legs and get ready to Dash!

Parking Garage Ambassador/Attendant

Details

Volunteers will direct traffic in the Elmwood Park Parking Garage, assisting participants with finding the closest parking spot. They will also be the eyes and ears of the race in the parking garage, looking out for the safety of all.

Traffic Control at Parking Lots

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Volunteers will stand at entrances/exits of parking lots that could serve as a bypass to allow a vehicle on course. Volunteers will be responsible for letting vehicles park, but not allowing them on the course. They will direct cars to the proper exit to bypass the course.

Race Photography

Details

Are you a photographer and love to share your skills? We would love to have a couple of volunteer photographers on the course capturing all the smiles and fun on Thanksgiving! Photographers capture the photos, then upload to Runsignup for runners to download and share for free. We'll credit you by sharing your name and contact info on our website.

Course Marshal High Priority

You must be 16-99 years old to volunteer for this task.

Course Marshals will be used at each intersection to direct runners in the correct direction and prevent traffic from entering the course. Please pick up all of your things needed for volunteering at packet pickup at the Rescue Mission on November 23 (10am-2pm) or November 25th- 26th (7am-2pm) at the Rescue Mission. THIS IS REQUIRED! Thank you for your support of this awesome Roanoke tradition!

Floaters

Floaters are our go-to people in a pinch! When someone doesn't show up or we have an unexpected need arise, floaters are who we depend on. A willingness to do just about anything and flexibility is key. Thank you for your support of this awesome Roanoke tradition!

We need folks to direct runners and walkers as they finish through the finish chute, adorn participants with their finishers medal, and hand out water. Be ready to give out lots of smiles and high fives!Thank you for your support of this awesome Roanoke tradition!

Sweeper High Priority

Details

The sweepers are the two people in the very BACK of the walkers at the 9am start. They will walk behind the last walkers, picking up any trash left by racers and collecting course marshal flags and vests from the course marshals. They will pull a wagon to collect the flags and vests.

Anti-Vehicle Barrier Attendant

Details

Volunteers will stand near the anti-vehicle Barriers and if an emergency vehicle needs to get through, the volunteer will let them through by disconnecting the chain.

Crowd Control

Details

Crowd Control volunteers will be stationed around the start area, finish area, and Elmwood Park to usher participants in the correct direction.
